Can Amber Heard face jail time if she refuses to pay Johnny Depp? Or will she use her "connections" to save herself again?

After Heard lost the defamation trial, she already suffered worse things in her life: losing her career and facing potential bankruptcy.

The fears came out after the jury unanimously said that Heard was guilty of defaming Depp in her 2018 The Washington Post op-ed. The verdict also concluded that she failed to validate her allegations against the actor.

They awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, as quoted by Deadline - although the latter was reduced to $350,000 due to the state's statutory cap or legal limit.

Heard's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, has since revealed on NBC's "TODAY" show that the "Aquaman" star would not be able to pay up.

If Heard would not truly settle the amount, here are the things that can happen instantly and put her in a more embarrassing situation.

Amber Heard Might Lose Everything

Recently, a source revealed to The New York Post that Heard is already broke due to legal fees and her lavish spending.

She somewhat saved herself by changing legal representation during the trial in order to have her homeowner's insurance from The Travelers Companies cover the cost of her lawyers.

However, lawyer Jeremiah Denton warned that Heard would still need to shoulder the costs - the $10.35 million - since it is not covered by the policy.

"The insurance company will keep in its back pocket the option of denying coverage at the end of the day - denying coverage means refusing to pay the plaintiff, in this case, Mr. Depp," Denton said.

With Depp's win, he now has the power to collect Heard's wages on her upcoming movies and seize her home - which is only valued at $1 million.

According to Atty. Steven Emmert, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor could serve her with a summons to know anything that they could "use to grab and sell at auction to try to pay down and pay off, ultimately, this judgment."

With $8 million, Heard could settle the $10.35 million in damages - but it could lead to her bankruptcy.

This resonated with what personal injury lawyer Mark Breyer revealed on TikTok, saying that Depp could go after all the money she currently has.

As of this time, only Depp could waive the monetary damages. Although the actor is not after the money since the trial began, fans remain hopeful that he will not free her from financial obligations.
