Actor Billy Bob Thornton will star in FX's miniseries Fargo debuting in the spring, The Huffington Post reported Aug. 2

"I'm going to be bold and say it will do justice to the Coen brothers' film which is one of my favorite movies of all time," FX president John Landgraf said at the Television Critics Association press tour Friday, according to the article.

Thornton will play Lorne Malvo who the network reportedly said in statement is a manipulative guy who meets an insurance salesman from a small town and sets him on a path of destruction.

The miniseries will consist of 10-episodes and has been adapted by The Unusuals filmmaker, Noah Hawley and Fargo's filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen are some of its executive producers.

Landgraf explained that the miniseries is "remarkably true" to the movie.

The Coen brothers also reportedly asked to give notes to Hawley's script and that they really felt his script captured the "tone of the film."

The Washington Post reported on Aug. 2 that no characters from the movie will be carried over to the miniseries.

No other cast members have been announced yet.

Thornton has also been making headlines recently for co-writing, directing and starring in Jayne Mansfield's Car. This is the first time since 2001's Daddy and Them that the actor did all three for one film. E! News reported on Friday that Jayne Mansfield's Car is about two sides of a family, one from Alabama, another from England, who come together after the death of their matriarch.
