Philip Baker Hall, a notable actor who became part of several hit dramas including "Seinfeld," has died. He was 90.

Hall's neighbor and friend, Los Angeles Times sports reporter Sam Farmer, shared the news on Twitter. Per Farmer, the actor ultimately died with his family and friends beside him.

"My neighbor, friend, and one of the wisest, most talented and kindest people I've ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night. He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has an empty space in it," he said.

Meanwhile, his daughter Anna also confirmed the heartbreaking news to The Hollywood Reporter.

Both statements did not include Philip Baker Hall's cause of death. But multiple news outlets revealed that he died of complications due to emphysema.

According to the Johns Hopkins Medicine's website, the disease is a collection of pus in the cavity between the lung and its surrounding membrane. It is cause by an infection from the lung that leads to an accumulation of pus in the organ's plural space.

Family, Friends Remember Philip Baker Hall

Following the revelation, his family, friends, and fans took their time to remember Hall's legacy and pay tribute to him.

His wife of nearly 40 years, Holly Wolfle Hall, said that Hall was doing fine until a few weeks earlier. Despite his health condition, the actor reportedly died in warm spirits.

One fan said, "Heartbreaking news. I know a lot of folks will (rightfully) cite his film work, but I was just watching his episode of Seinfeld last night and I maintain that Philip Baker Hall's Mr Bookman is one of my favorite things in the entirety of the show. RIP."

Hall started his career by having small appearances in his five-decade career. He continued working until he landed roles in several hit films and series.

He famously played the role of Walt Kleezak in "Modern Family," who befriends Nolan Gould's Luke Dunphy. The actor also collaborated with director Robert Altman in his 1984 feature "Secret Honor."

In addition, Hall portrayed "60 Minutes" producer Don Hewitt in Michael Mann's "The Insider."

Among his other titles include "Room 104," "Cigarettes & Coffee," "Hard Eight," and "Seinfeld."
