Twilight's Taylor Lautner has now reportedly entered the race to obtain the groundbreaking role of the S&M-crazed billionaire in the film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey.

Lautner has been no stranger to the dating game, as he's been linked in the past to the likes of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Sara Hicks and Lily Collins. While the 21-year clearly has the physique to don the Grey role, his age may be an issue, as the Grey role is listed at 27.

Lautner's name had previously popped up in buzz to play Jose Rodriguez, Anastasia Steele's good friend from college, who is also a popular photographer. Although Jose is clearly into Ana, she continues to insist that she'd like to just remain friends.

The Fifty Shades of Grey premise revolves around Steele, who gets herself involved in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with Grey. Through a mutual "agreement," the two delve into the world of bondage and masochism.

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who's currently in the process of refining the script, said that she would be sticking to the content of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Only time will truly tell who ultimately will become the next Grey. The highly anticipated flick is scheduled to launch on the big screen on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014.
