Made You Watch... (a podcast) is continuing their Pride Month celebration. This time around, hosts Adam Mock and Melanie Weir are discussing the Disney+ documentary Howard, a film about he bittersweet life of Howard Ashman, one of the most influential composers in Disney history, who sadly succumbed to AIDS at the height of his career.

This insightful, powerful documentary delves into Ashman's childhood, early years in the theater, and his triumph in creating the Off-Broadway sensation Little Shop of Horrors, before moving on to discussing his role as a composer on The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.

As tragic as it is beautiful, Adam and Melanie talk about the ebb and flow of societal changes involving the LGBTQ+ community in New York City, where Howard spent his formative years in the industry. The conversation is unfettered and honest, about the hardships and victories in the gay rights movement over the years. Your hosts go on to share their own personal introspection about the ever evolving struggle for equality - one who was actually living his very early years in New York as this was happening, and another who grew up queer, but only learned about AIDS in middle school health class.

Howard Ashman's life is indeed a reason to celebrate - not only during Pride Month, but year round. We hope you will join Adam and Melanie on this touching journey into the inner workings of the mind, heart, and soul a brilliant man.
