It is a sad day for rock and roll after Bret Michaels, the frontman for the popular 80s hair band Poison, had to be hospitalized due to an undisclosed illness this week.

The singer, 59, was admitted to a Nashville hospital during a leg of The Stadium Tour which included other big-name acts of yesteryear including Joan Jett and the Black Hearts, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard.

The reason for his hospitalization has yet to be announced by those close to him.

Micheal's bandmates announced his departure from the tour during the first of four days they were to play at the venue. They are still uncertain if the Nothing But A Good Time singer will be able to continue.

For those not in the know, Micheals has suffered from type 1 diabetes, amongst several other health issues, including a brain hemorrhage in 2010, as well as a hole in his heart which required surgery after a mini-stroke.

Michaels was also the host of a popular dating show called Rock of Love, where he was the Prince Charming to a bunch of hungry fans looking to hook up with the singer. It lasted a whopping three seasons, proving the myth of finding love on a reality show a futile effort.

For all of his ups and downs, as someone who has actually seen him play live on The Stadium Tour when they rocked the stage at Citi Field in Queens, New York, Michaels is a stage presence to be reckoned with, and I hope for the best in terms of a speedy recovery.
