Mike Trout revealed his future with Los Angeles Angels after receiving a worrying health diagnosis.

Trout's future has been clarified by Angles head athletic trainer Mike Frostad in an interview with The Athletic's Sam Blum. According to Frostad, Trout has been out since July 12 due to a back issue.

However, the athlete and his team recently learned that it is not a simple back injury.

As quoted by PEOPLE, Trout's health is in jeopardy after being told that he has costovertebral dysfunction at T5. According to AS, it refers to injuries affecting the vertebrae in the upper/mid-back area and the ribs.

In Trout's case, one of his ribs shifted to a bad position and ended up misaligned with the other ribs.

"I think we have to have some concern on that. He's a little more upbeat today. And I think he's starting to feel like he's getting the benefits. But long-term, we do have to look at this as something that - he has to manage it, not just through the rest of this season, but also through the rest of his career probably," Frostad continued.

Trout initially downplayed his condition and told the reporters that it was not a career-altering problem.

Despite that, he clarified that his career is not yet over as he planned to play again this season. Still, he aims to focus on recovery as he does not know how the injury became a rare condition.

Unfortunately, it already kept him from joining in his supposed tenth All-Star Game last week. He has not played in 140 games in a season since 2016.

With his recent injury, he returned to the injured list again. He already received cortisone injection for pain last week.

Mike Trout's Legacy

Despite being out for a while, Trout still holds records as an athlete.

As of press time, he ranks second in highest-paid player with $37.1 million in earnings. He also notably hit .270 with 24 homers and 51 RBIs through 79 games.

Angels interim manager Phil Nevin praised him and called him a great teammate.

"He's been [in] the dugout, helping out his teammate -- he's obviously a good sounding board for a lot of young players. For them to have him here and know that he's supporting them is huge, I'm sure, for some younger guys," he continued.

It remains unknown when exactly he will return.
