Grayson Murray sustained serious injuries after getting involved in an accident before Butterfield Bermuda Championship this week.

Royal Gazette first confirmed the news about Murray's involvement in a vehicular accident. The news outlet said the PGA Tour golfer and his caddie, Douglas Schwimer, were on scooters as they traveled from Puget to their hotel.

However, the athlete collided with a car when they were turning a bend.

A spokesman for the police told Royal Gazette that both of them were hurt and had been transported to King VII Memorial Hospital.

"Each was riding a separate rental scooter at the time of the collision. One of the men is understood to have sustained injuries to his arms and legs, while the other is understood to have sustained injuries to his hands. Both visitors are in Bermuda for the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship golf tournament," the source said.

NBC Boston's Glenn Jones shared a photo of the scene on Twitter, saying that Murray's injuries looked severe enough to make him drop out of the upcoming tournament.

His fans expressed their worries after learning about the incident, sending well-wishes to the golfer.

Murray, on the other hand, gave an update to fans after surviving the crash.

Murray expressed how lucky he felt wearing a helmet while driving the scooter. If it were not because of it, he would have died on the spot.

Although he survived the accident, he disclosed saddening news to fans, saying he would not make it to the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship golf tournament because of the stitches in his left hand and knee.

Murray also told Golfweek he was sober at the time of the crash.

As for Schwimer, he will reportedly push through in the end. But he will caddie for Johnson Wagner instead.
