Kick-Ass 2 actress Chloe Grace Mortez and director Jeff Wadlow have both recently defended the film after Jim Carrey, who stars in the movie, said he no longer supported it.

Carrey tweeted back in June that even though he stars in the movie, the violent nature of the film made him have a change of heart about it.

"I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence. My apologies to e," Carrey tweeted. "I meant to say my apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart."

The comedian has even avoided doing any promotional work for the film that releases Aug.16, The Huffington Post reported today.

But Moretz and Wadlow say they don't agree with Carrey at all.

The actress said she respects Carrey's beliefs about the movie but disagrees with them, she reportedly said in an Aug. 7 interview with The Sun, MSN reported.

"It's a movie. If you are going to believe and be affected by an action film, you shouldn't go to see 'Pocahontas' because you are going to think you are a Disney princess," the 16-year-old actress said. "If you are that easily swayed, you might see 'The Silence of the Lambs' and think you are a serial killer. It's a movie and it's fake, and I've known that since I was a kid ... I don't want to run around trying to kill people and cuss. If anything, these movies teach you what not to do."

"Each to their own," Moretz said. "I respect [Carrey's] decision."

Wadlow agrees with Moretz. The Huffington Post reported that the director said Carrey is unpredictable and that "you never know what he is going to do or say."
