Kelly Clarkson has decided to keep her children off social media while they still live with her.

Clarkson spoke about parenting in her recent interview with People. The "Because of You" singer shared that she has a strict rule at home for her 9-year-old daughter River Rose and 7-year-old son Remington Alexander -- no social media.

"That can be really hard on kids in general but especially kids with parents in the public eye," Clarkson explained. "So I have informed them they're not allowed to, under my roof, ever have [it]."

Clarkson co-parents her two kids with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, 47. They finalized her divorce in March 2022.

According to the "Kelly Clarkson Show" host, co-parenting was "harder at first," but as more time passed, "the easier it gets." She acknowledged, however, that it's different for everyone because "there's so much emotion and trauma involved."

"It's hard enough when you're married and come from two different backgrounds and ways to discipline and educate. Doing that in different households can be tough," she added.

Clarkson is satisfied with her choices when it comes to her children. According to her, her ex-husband was also supportive of what she wanted for their kids because they were on the same page when it came to not letting River and Remington use social media.

"My daughter was like, 'Well, what if Dad lets me?' I'm like, 'Well, you're there four days a month. Enjoy that,'" Clarkson shared.

"And right now, he's not letting them do it either," Clarkson added. "I'll listen when they're older, but until they have a solid argument, it's a no."

The singer and TV host has been open about how motherhood changed her. About parenting, she's also confident that she's doing well, especially from what she observed from her children. Clarkson went on to share some conversations she had with them.

"She was wanting a dog, so we got one, and I was like, 'Well, what do you want to name her?' And she was like, 'I want to name her Charlie because Charlie Brown," Clarkson said of River.

"'Okay. Well, some people might think that it's a boy.' And she was like, 'What do I care what people think?' I was like, 'I'm sorry. Say it again and slower.' I felt like I had succeeded as a parent."

The celebrity mom was also very proud of how Remington had learned to communicate his feelings well. There was reportedly a time when she said something that hurt him, and he voiced it to her "clearly."

"I was just so proud of him for using all the correct words and not being overwhelmed emotionally. He just said it so clear and calm. I was like, 'Okay. I could learn something from you today.' The moments that seem small are really epic," Clarkson said.
