He was 66.

The singer reportedly experienced a "cardiac event" after a performance, according to a family statement on Facebook. His family described Nixon as a "full-tilt, wide-open rock hard, root hog, corner on two wheels plus on fire... Passing after a blazing show, a raging night, closing the bar, taking no prisoners plus a good breakfast with bandmates and friends."

"A cardiac event on the Outlaw Country Cruise is about right... & that's just how he did it," the statement continued.

Mojo Nixon, born Neill Kirby McMilan Jr., was born in 1957 in North Carolina. Collaborating with musician Skid Roper, they crafted six albums, achieving notable success on the Billboard charts with their single "Elvis Is Everywhere."

In a colorful recounting to the 'Austin Chronicle,' Nixon shared an amusing anecdote about Henley's unexpected involvement.

According to Nixon, Henley attended one of his shows and, in a spirited state, insisted on singing the song that humorously called for his own demise. "He was s**tfaced and he goes, 'I want to sing that song, especially the part about not getting together with Glenn Frey!' " Henley, known for his serious demeanor, surprised the audience by passionately belting out the lyrics, channeling the energy of Johnny Rotten.

Mojo Nixon collaborated with Jello Biafra on the roots rock record "Prairie Home Invasion" and premiered his documentary, 'The Mojo Manifesto,' at SXSW in 2022.

In addition to his musical contributions, he portrayed Toad in 1993's 'Super Mario Bros.'

A family statement said, "Mojo has left the building," humorously suggesting he's now waiting for Elvis Presley in the alley. "Heaven help us all."
