NBA player Jimmy Butler's emo hairstyle from the Miami Heat's 2023 media day is back as he stars in Fall Out Boy's newest music video.

The 34-year-old Miami Heat forward took on the role of Heat Wentz, an emo cowboy, in the band's new "So Much (For) Stardust" music video released on Wednesday. He starred alongside Fall Out Boy's bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz, who also showcased an emo cowboy look.

In the MV, Butler sported a matching purple cowboy outfit adorned with gold sequins and fringes. He completed his look with a matching cowboy hat and gold shoes.

The unexpected video for the song seemed to appeal to both fans of the rock band and the basketball player, with many leaving positive comments on YouTube.

"This is a collab I never expected, but I'm very happy it exists," commented one netizen.

"Fortuitous of Fall Out Boy to star Jimmy Butler in a music video just before his run to an NBA championship. Love it. Let's go, Heat!" wrote a Heat fan.

"As a FOB and Heat fan, I never knew how much I needed this," commented someone else.

"Fall Out Boy meets Ball Out Boy. Iconic," quipped a different user.

"As a massive Heat and Fall Out Boy fan, this could be one of the greatest things I've seen in a long time. I can't stop cheesing at the unexpected goodness of this collab. My goodness!" stated another.

During Miami Heat's media day in October 2023, Butler debuted his emo look, complete with straight long hair with side bangs, black nail polish, eyeliner and piercings.

"This is my emotional state. I'm one with my emotions. So, this is what you get," he responded when a member of the press asked about his look.

Meanwhile, his team's official X account posted at the time, "Nobody does Media Day like Jimmy Butler does Media Day."

Truly, "no one does it" like Butler. For his team's media day in 2022, he showed up with gold-tipped dreadlocks.

When asked about his look at the time, he said, "I'm just messing with stuff to make the internet mad."

FOB's album and song "So Much (For) Stardust" was released on March 24, 2023. That's why the music video Butler appeared in came as a surprise for the band's fans.

In other news, the rock band is currently on its "So Much For (2our) Dust" tour in support of its eighth studio album.
