Lindsay Lohan shared her excitement about returning to work with Jamie Lee Curtis for the upcoming sequel to their 2003 film "Freaky Friday."

The 37-year-old actress told People that the film's highly-anticipated sequel is "in the process," but she could not confirm when the filming would start.

All she could share was her excitement "to work with Jamie [Lee Curties] again and see how much further [they] can take it."

The "Irish Wish" star also gave an update on her co-star and shared that they talk a lot "in general."

"Because we talk almost every other day in general, I think we're going to have a lot of fun with this," Lohan said.

Meanwhile, in an interview with "The View" in October 2022, "Freaky Friday's" Tess Coleman talked about her plot idea for the film's sequel with Lohan.

"I've already written to Disney, my friends at Disney. I'm in their new 'Haunted Mansion' movie," Curtis told host Sara Haines when asked about pitching sequel ideas to Disney.

She continued, "Let me be the grandma! Let me be the old grandma who switches places," referencing her role as Lohan's on-screen mother in "Freaky Friday."

"So then Lindsay gets to be the sexy grandma, who is still happy with Mark Harmon in all the ways you would be happy with Mark Harmon," the "Everything Everywhere All at Once" actress added.

"And simply, I would like to see Lindsay be the hot grandma, and I would like to see me try to deal with toddlers today. I wanna be a helicopter parent in today's world, as an old lady," she quipped.

Curtis and Lohan portrayed the role of mother and daughter Tess and Anna Coleman in the fantasy comedy film based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel of the same name.

There were other versions of the film in 1976 and 1995, but their 2003 version was the most successful commercially, raking in $160 million at the box office, per People.

"Freaky Friday" follows the story of a single mother and her teenage daughter, who are very different from each other. One day, they woke up to discover that they had switched bodies. While looking for a solution to switch back, they lived in each other's shoes and eventually understood each other better.
