Some images, allegedly created by Artifical Intelligence (AI), have surfaced in recent weeks involving Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Black American supporters.

Trump, 77, is known to court his African American supporters. However, there is no solid evidence that the images are coming from the nominees presidential campaign. Despite this, fans and fellow voters are continuing to share the images across social media.

BBC Panorama reported that Trump supporters have been creating and sharing the AI-generated images as encouragement to Black voters to vote Republican in the 2024 election.

Black Voters Matter co-founder, Cliff Albright, stated that the suspected manipulated images were made with the intention of pushing a "strategic narrative" designed to show Trump as "popular" in the Black community.

One of the photos circulating was reportedly created by Florida conservative radio host, Mark Kaye, who has more than one million Facebook followers. He claims he never said the pictures with Black supporters were "accurate."

"I'm not a photojournalist. I'm not out there taking pictures of what's really happening. I'm a storyteller," Kaye said in a statement to BBC.

"I'm not claiming it is accurate," he continued. "I'm not saying, 'Hey, look, Donald Trump was at this party with all of these African American voters. Look how much they love him.' "

Amid the rise of digital technology, the National Conference of State Legislature has addressed Artificial Intelligence in elections and campaigns, saying "Artificial intelligence is new, but change in how campaigns and elections operate is not."

"In 2023, legislation may use different terms such as 'deepfake,' 'synthetic media' or 'deceptive media' when referring to AI. These terms all refer to what people commonly think of as AI but may have different implications depending on what term is used and how statute defines it," they stated.

According to The Guardian, AI has already caused problems in the 2024 election. Robocalls, which utilized AI to copy president Joe Biden's voice, prompted voters not to vote in the New Hampshire primaries.

The FCC has since issued a cease-and-desist order to Lingo Telecom, one of the two companies in question responsible for the robocalls.
