Baby Reindeer's Real-Life Stalker Claims She's The 'Victim' Of Bullying, Wants To Sue Richard Gadd
The real-life 'Martha' in "Baby Reindeer" has disputed Richard Gadd's claims about her stalking him and claims she is, in fact, the "victim."
In the Netflix hit series which draws from Gadd's real-life experiences, the writer-actor-comedian starred as the struggling stand-up comedian, Donny Dunn, who worked at a pub in London where he met Martha (Jessica Gunning) who was unable to buy herself a drink. Feeling sorry for her, he offered her one and that started the stalking and obsession.
However, the woman portrayed as the stalker on the show told Daily Mail that Gadd is "using 'Baby Reindeer' to stalk [her] now" and that she is the "victim."

"He's written a bloody show about me," she said.
She also reportedly claimed that Gadd's script "bullied an older woman on television for fame and fortune."
While Gadd previously claimed that they "had gone to such great lengths to disguise" the stalker's identity in the show, the woman -- who chose to stay anonymous -- claimed that the Martha in the show has an uncanny physical resemblance to her.
"She sort of looks like me after I put on four stone during lockdown but I'm not actually unattractive," she added.

Like the fictional Martha, she is also reportedly a 58-year-old living alone in a flat in London under a weekly budget of £30. They're also both Scottish, law graduates and highly sexualized in speech and writing.
She also disputed the baby reindeer toy element and nickname in the show. In Gadd's show, Martha gave Donny a toy reindeer she had as a child.
According to real-life 'Martha', she "never owned a toy baby reindeer."
"I've never owned a toy baby reindeer and I wouldn't have had any conversation with Richard Gadd about a childhood toy either," she claimed.
The woman in question, who denied stalking Gadd, also allegedly claimed that the writer-actor "got 'main character syndrome.'"
"He always thinks he's at the center of things. I'm not writing shows about him or promoting them in the media, am I? If he wanted me to be properly anonymous, he could have done so. Gadd should leave me alone," she explained to The Mail.
Following the series, real-life 'Martha' said she's considering taking legal action against him.
"Baby Reindeer" premiered on Netflix on April 11. Since then, it has been viewed over 13 million times and ranked No. 1 in the Netflix charts in 30 countries, per Daily Mail.
"It's a true story. In a weird way, I first started feeling like this could be a good story during the whole ordeal itself. It was one of the most intense periods when I was listening to these voicemails. I'd go to sleep at night and these voicemails - her words would bounce around my eyelids," he said in the press release for the show.
