ABC's The Bachelor season 17 star Sean Lowe admitted he would have preferred The Bachelorette season 8 winner Jef Holm to become next season's Bachelor instead of Juan Pablo Galavais.

After The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison announced live on Aug. 5 that Galavais will become the next Bachelor, Lowe said he thinks Holm would have been a better pick.

"He's funny, articulate, different and already has a large fan base," Lowe told OK! about Holm, according to Hollywood Life. "I think the franchise needs a polarizing guy like Jef for a bounce back."

Lowe also offered words advice to Galavais, saying ""Be yourself."

"Forget about the cameras and the exotic dates and have fun with the woman (or women) you're with," he added.

Lowe revealed that he thought Holm should become the next Bachelor in a June 24 tweet. He wrote on the social media website, "Does anyone else think @jefholm should be the next bachelor? Just a thought."

The majority of Lowe's followers wrote that Holm should become the next Bachelor for season 18.

Holm garnered a huge fan following after he won the heart of Emily Maynard on season 8 of The Bachelorette. Maynard gave Holm her final rose when the finale aired on July 22, 2012. The couple later announced that their engagement ended in October 2012.

Maynard also offered advice to Galavais, a single father, in an interview with E! News on Aug. 8. The former Bachelorette said being on the reality show requires a lot of energy, so she strongly advises that Galavais "drink lots of coffee." She also suggested that he takes his daughter's advice when choosing a possible wife.

"It's a really hard situation to be in anyway, being the Bachelor or Bachelorette, but adding being a single parent into the mix makes it that much harder," Maynard explained. "But it's also a blessing because children are brutally honest and keep you very grounded."

"I just say keep talking to her every day and keep her to the forefront of your mind in all your choices, and I'm sure he will!" Maynard said, referring to Galavais' 4-year-old daughter Camila,.

Galavais became the next Bachelor star after he was eliminated by Desiree Hartsock during The Bachelorette season 9 last month.
