When the announcement was made that Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam would be playing the lead role of Christian Grey in the movie version of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey, there were inevitably several of the racy novel's fans that weren't too thrilled with the respective casting decision.

According to Classicalite, "not every person who visited the set" is a fan of Hunnam playing the erotic part, which could potentially make the actor's safety more of a concern.

The backlash for the 33-year-old's attachment to the S&M-crazed billionaire role has reportedly resulted in him needing to beef up his security while filming his current FX television series.

Due to the Internet protests against the English actor as Grey, Hunnam was said to have made the decision to hire more protection with Universal Studio paying the tab.

"Charlie is not what many of the fans would have wanted, and that's sadly going to hurt the movie! When it was announced that an old-looking blonde man was playing the role, E.L. James lost a movie fan in me," stated a Twitter user.

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel stated that she'd be staying true to the original content of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. The highly anticipated flick is scheduled to launch on the big screen on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2014.
