Marc Jacobs confirmed that he will be leaving Louis Vuitton to focus on his own eponymous line, after his last collection for the brand was exhibited as part of the LV Spring 2014 fashion show in Paris on the morning of Oct. 2.

Jacobs' association with the high-profile fashion brand lasted 16 years. The 50-year old fashion designer's line is now estimated at nearing €1 billion in value, according to a high-level executive at LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. 

Jacobs' all-black, funereal themed collection featured outfits that were complemented by large peacock feathered headresses. A nude model was body painted by Stephen Sprouse-inspired grafitti which Jacobs is known for using, and was one of Jacobs' early art collaborations in 2000.

Jacons is expected to relocate to New York, where his fashion line is based. "It was an ode to Paris and to all the people I have been involved and work with. This city has been so great,'' Jacobs said of the collection.

The set for the show featured a carousel, a large fountain, and a grand hotel elevator. Kate Upton, Natasha Poly, and Anja Rubik were also part of the show, the models were seen riding the carousel that was 

In the accompanying show notes, Jacobs suggested that the collection was a tribute to all the women that inspire him, the list included, Coco Chanel, Cher. Lady Gaga, Judy Garland, Madonna, Kate Moss, Barbra Streisand, and Anna Wintour.

This is how he described his inspiration for the show:

"I take pleasure from things for exactly what they are, revelling in the pure adornment of beauty for beauty's sake. Connecting with something on a superficial level is as honest as connecting with it on an intellectual level.

In his closing notes, Jacobs also dedicated the show to Robert Duffy, his business partner, and Bernard Arnault, the chairman and chief executive of LVMH.
