Karen Gillan has finally answered a question that has been on the tip of many a Whovain tongue - will she feature in the Doctor Who 50 th Anniversary Special.
Unfortunately for fans of the Ponds, the answer appears to be a negative.
"I'm not in it, just to put that out there," Gillan recently said in an Interview with Radio Times.
The special, now known as "The Day of the Doctor," will feature the return of several past characters, a fact which prompted rumors that Amy Pond (Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) could make a return to the BBC series. Dubbed the "Glorius Ponds" and the Boy and Girl who waited, the two companions exited the show last season in "The Angels Take Manhatten."
However, the 10 th Doctor (David Tennant) and his first companion, Rose (Billie Piper), will renter the world of Doctor Who for the milestone anniversary. The duo will enter the TARDIS once more to team up with the 11 th Doctor (Matt Smith) and his current companion, Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman).
If you want to see Gillan go toe to toe with Tennant, a fellow Scottish actor, both appear in "The Fires of Pompeii." Viewers can see Gillan play a one-off role as a Roman alongside the next Doctor, Peter Capaldi, who also appears as a citizen of the ill-fated city.
"The Day of the Doctor" will air simultaneously around the world on Nov. 23.
