On the heels of the successful Grand Theft Auto V, the release date for its first PC version is allegedly set for early next year, Mirror has reported.

As of right now, GTA V is only available on gaming consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. But Nvidia's Senior Director of Investor Relations, Chris Evenden, implied a PC release of the game during a financial call in August.

"PC gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Assassin's Creed 4," Evenden said.

Intel executive Chris R. Silva backed up the news Monday and told PC Gamer,  "At least with Grand Theft Auto I don't think it'll be console exclusive for very long. But that's what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content. Somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that title was exclusive."

However, Mirror also reported that Nvidia claimed as far as they know, it's all just speculation and has not been confirmed by the game's maker Rockstar Games. But if it is just rumors swirling, as of now 600,872 people have signed a petition on Change.org to make sure it becomes a reality. They still need a little less than 399,128 to reach 100,000 signatures. If GTA 5 is coming to PC, it follows the steps of GTA 4 that was first released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox in April 2008 and available for PC the following December. In the meantime, Rockstar has released software updates to fix bugs for the console versions.

Rockstar execs said in a statement Thursday, "This title update will resolve the cause of players losing their gameplay progress except for some specific instances..."
