Waiting to buy the next generation phone? You may have to wait a little longer - earlier rumors that stated the iPhone 5 would drop in July could be wrong, and new rumors have now emerged indicating that the new iPhone might not be released until September.

The latest rumors from DigiTimes claims that Apple will release the iPhone 5 in September - around the same time the new Macbook Air is rumored to launch.

The report by DigiTimes claims that Pegatron, an alternate manufacture to Foxconn, has received manufacturing orders to have the newest supply of iPhones ready for September. Pegatron is currently an OEM for the iPhone 4S and the new iPad, according to the site.

DigiTimes also reports that "Pegatron has already finished expanding its equipment and labor force for Apple's orders." It is reported that the company has shifted its resources to Apple's orders.

MacRumors reported: "The iPhone claim appears to be a reasonable one given current thinking that Apple will return to a roughly one-year interval between iPhone updates, with a September launch coming just under a year after the early October introduction on the iPhone 4S last year."

The iPhone 5 will not be released at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June. Apple had previously introduced their latest iPhones at the event but following last year's fall launch of the iPhone 4S, it is not expected that the iPhone 5 will launch at the WWDC.

Potential specs for the iPhone 5 include 4G LTE, a 3D camera and "LiquidMetal" casing, which would stronger than ever protection.
