Community star Donald Glover recently revealed the reason behind his Instagram meltdown earlier in the week.

Glover posted several photos of notes Monday explaining why he's leaving Community this season and how he feels about his life and future. The notes, which included sentences like "I feel like I'm letting everyone down" and "I'm afraid people hate who I really am," caused a lot of his fans to express concern for his well-being.

Glover spoke with People magazine on Wednesday, discussing and clarifying the grim notes.

"That night, we had a show, and then afterwards, I had this moment of feeling like, 'What's the point? Why am I even here?' " Glover explained. "I just wanted to write down my feelings. I definitely was just expressing myself."

The actor, who also raps under his alter ego Childish Gambino, said that he was tired of people asking him if he was okay. He said that other people's concerns are what caused him to post the revealing notes.

"I'm glad people saw it. I feel like I got some stuff out there," he added. "I got it off my chest. It felt like I had been holding on to something."

It had previously been announced that Glover would only be appearing in five episodes in the upcoming fifth season of Community before leaving the sitcom entirely. The actor wrote in his notes that he wasn't leaving Community to pursue his rapping career; rather, he simply wanted to be alone.
