Rihanna is in the middle of a fashion controversy after she posted some images on herself on her Instagram dressed in a head-to-toe hooded black jumpsuit at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in UAE.

The Diamonds singer, who is currently on tour was spotted at the Abu Dhabi mosque, posing for an impromptu photo shoot on Oct. 19, where she is covered up.

In the images, Rihanna is seen in various locations around the mosque near the marble floors with floral designs and stunning details. Staff members at the mosque reportedly said the photo shoot was offensive, claiming that it was "at odds with the sanctity of the site." They even asked the singer to leave the mosque since she did not receive permission to stage the shoot on the grounds.

The mosque released a statement referencing the incident, but did not name Rihanna by name.

"In the event of behavior that violates the moral codes of access to the mosque, or other visit regulations - such as taking inappropriate pictures, posing in ways that are improper in the context of sacred place, talking loudly, or eating - the violators are directed in a polite manner that reflects the civilisational and tolerant attributes of Islam," the statement read.

Staff members of the mosque weren't the only people who said Rihanna was disrespectful for the photos. Even her fans bashed her for the outfit choice and location.

"Rihanna may look gorgeous and all but she's covering her head out of fashion not out of respect for the mosque," one user wrote.

"SHAME ON YOU RIHANNA,"another wrote.
