Lady Gaga's new collaboration with R Kelly, Do What U Want, was released on Oct. 21.

Before announcing the release of the song, Gaga used an unconventional promotional tactic by launching into a series of tweets dissing herself:

"MADONNA HATES GAGA SHES OVER... i dont need anybodys permission to be remembered. I will be. Whether they like it or not," she wrote on Oct. 20.

Similar tweets followed: "APPLAUSE didn't DEBUT AT #1! KATY IS BETTER THAN HER! #UWontUseMyMind I write for the music not the charts pic.twitter.com/KjOpFURWwl."

Gaga kept going: "GOD HATES GAGA," "LADY GAGA IS FAT NOW," and "LADY GAGA IS A HERMAPHRODITE! LOOK AT THIS PIC OF HER D*CK."

The singer also recently released the raunchy cover art, featuring a close shot of her butt, for the single via her Twitter account. Gaga also posed semi-nude -- scantily clad in a moss dress -- for a promotional image for Do What U Want.

"Do what you want/What you want/With my body" Gaga sings, to which R. Kelly joins in a bit later with, "Taking these haters/And we roughing them up."

Fans got a first taste of the song as it was sampled in a new Best Buy commercial. The song played in the background of the 30-second clip, which showcased a pair of Beats headset.

Gaga recently engaged fans in a Twitter Q&A to build anticipation for her upcoming album, ARTPOP. She suggested that there will be 15 or 16 tracks on the album and described the record as being "a mix of eros, fantasy, and rage."

"But it's also about joy and cannabis," she added.

The Applause singer revealed that the video for one of the songs, Venus, will be directed by Ruth Hogben. He was also behind Kanye West music video for Lost in the World.

In addition to releasing a new album, Gaga will also be presenting a Christmas TV special with the Muppets. She stars in the recently released, Machete Kills, as a blond-haired assassin named Lady Chamelion.

ARTPOP releases on Nov. 11.
