Supernatural execs have been teasing a "young Dean" flashback for quite some time and it looks like viewers will finally get to see it in "Bad Boys."

Sam (Jared Padalecki) uncovers a shocking revelation when Dean (Jensen Ackles) gets a ghost-related call from Sonny (Blake Gibbons), an old friend who runs a home for delinquent boys. As it turns out, Dean spent some time at the home - unbeknownst to Sam - after getting caught stealing food.

"I just would say that ... I'm going all the way back to Episode 1 of the series -- as we've always seen Dean Winchester, in terms of his approach to the life, approach to the hunting, it may not have always been that way," said executive producer Jeremy Carver, according to the Huffington Post.

Could this mean that Dean was more like Sam at one point, perhaps desiring a way out of the hunting lifestyle that often left the Winchesters without money or a place to stay? Or was he more criminal in nature and less morally focused on fighting for the safety of others and distinguishing between good and evil?

"I think, especially after nine years, we all tend to put our brothers and the various supporting characters into certain boxes that we tick off: "This is who they are, this is how they would act," and I think any time we can find a piece of the past that maybe makes us look twice at our characters, and maybe adds a couple extra layers of complexity, is always fun," Carver further told the Huffington Post.

While the brothers work to solve a murder at the home, Dean not only flashes back to his stay there but also takes the time to look up an old flame named Robin. Now in her 30s, Robin now owns her father's dinner and had some form of a romance with Dean over 20 years ago, according to E!.
