Hosting an awards show is a tough gig for a celebrity to get and then be praised for.

They need to combine the ability to get the ceremony moving along smoothly with genius comedic timing and tasteful gags. Unfortunately, several fall short of this ability.

Many reports claimed that Anne Hathaway and James Franco failed at being the hosts of the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony in 2011, and Seth MacFarlane was not asked back to host the same awards show after he received mixed reviews hosting this year's 85th ceremony.

However, some hosts are so good at what they do that they are often asked back to host a show multiple times.

Following the announcement that 2 Broke Girls stars Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings will host the 2014 annual People's Choice Awards this January, Enstars compiled a list of some of the most successful awards show hosts of all time.

1. Billy Crystal: The comedian, who has starred in several films over a nearly 40-year career, has hosted the Academy Awards several times. He is only second to Bob Hope for most times hosting the ceremony with a total of nine gigs. His first time hosting was at the 62nd annual ceremony in 1990, followed by consecutive hosting gigs in 1991, 1992 and 1993. He returned to host again in both 1997 and 1998, as well as 2000 and 2004. His most recent gig was hosting the 84th ceremony in 2012.

2. Ellen DeGeneres: The comedian and talk show host has already been tapped to host the 86th annual Academy Awards in 2014, the second time she will host the broadcast. She hosted for the first time in 2007. She has also hosted the Primetime Emmys in 2001 and 2005, as well as the Grammy Awards in 1996 and 1997.

3. Neil Patrick Harris: The actor, whose role of Barney Stinson on CBS' How I Met Your Mother will end when the show wraps up its final season in 2014, is one of the most recognizable faces in awards hosting these days. This year was a busy for the performer, who hosted both the Tony Awards and the Primetime Emmys. Both were repeat gigs for him. He hosted the Emmys in 2009, and the Tony's in 2011 and 2012 as well.

4. Queen Latifah: The actress hosted the People's Choice Awards for five consecutive years in the early 2000s, a feat that no one else has claimed. She hosted each ceremony from 2007-2011.

5. Hugh Jackman: The actor has also put his signature on hosting gigs. He has also been a perennial Tony Awards host, headlining the ceremony from 2003-2005, and lead the 2009 Academy Awards.

6. Whoopi Goldberg: The comedic actress has hosted the Academy Awards four times: in 1993, 1996, 1999 and 2002.

7. Steve Martin: Another comedic actor who has been in the business for a while, Martin has hosted the Academy Awards three times in the last 14 years: in 2001, 2003 and 2010.

8. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler: Fey and Poehler have been an unstoppable comedy force since they first teamed up on Saturday Night Live, and their fantastic job at hosting the 2013 Golden Globes got them asked back not only for the 2014 ceremony, but the 2015 one as well.

9. Kaley Cuoco: The Big Bang Theory actress hosted the People's Choice Awards in both 2012 and 2013
