Rumors are swirling that the next-generation iPhone handset will be the final model designed by the late and legendary Apple founder Steve Jobs. Apple has officially gained control of the iphone5.com domain name - which had been used by an Apple fan forum site, according to the DailyMail. The company reportedly had to file a case with the World Intellectual Property Organization to gain control of the domain name.

The latest design is said to have been overseen by Jobs himself . A source told Bloomberg that Jobs played a key role in developing the device.

The new iPhone 5 is rumored to have a bigger screen at 4 inches. The current iPhone 4S screen is 3.5 inches. There are reports that the new screens are already in production in Korea and Japan by LG Display Co Ltd, Sharp Corp and Japan Display Inc. The three companies are likely to get production orders within a month, which means that the mobile device will probably be launched in September as predicted.

Recently, images of new iPhone 5 components have surfaced, hinting that the next-generation iPhone will have a significant design overhaul.

Experts at iMore believe that the components are actually the new micro dock connector. They believe that the component is actually a dock connector, loud speaker, and cellular antenna.

iMore reported back in February that the new generation iPhone will not have the tradition 30-pin dock connecter, but will debut a smaller micro dock connector.

However, it is too early to determine how the components will be assembled as the design is yet to be finalized.
