Season 4 of Game of Thrones is just a few months away, but there are a plenty of spoilers out there for those who are impatient for the premiere.

Assuming the Game of Thrones writer continue to adapt George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novel series faithfully, viewers should expect Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) to become much more interesting in season 4.

Season 4 is adapting the second half of A Storm of Swords, the third book in the saga. In the latter half of the book, Stannis replies to the letter he received at the end of season 3 from the Night's Watch asking for help. His response is a full-blown army.

Stannis thoroughly decimates the wildlings as led by Mance Rayder (Cirian Hinds) and helps the Night's Watch immensely. Stannis and Melisandre (Carice van Houten) decide to stay with the Night's Watch for a while and keep Mance prisoner, agreeing to sacrifice him to the Lord of Light.

Stannis' grand plan through aligning himself with the Night's Watch is to gain control of the North in the wake of Robb's (Richard Madden) death. He also offers to let Jon Snow (Kit Harington) become Jon Stark and claim himself as the Lord of Winterfell. Though Jon is tempted by this offer, he ultimately declines and declares himself to be loyal to the Night's Watch through and through.

Finally, Stannis tries to appoint a new leader of the Night's Watch, considering they are leaderless. The members vote for Jon and he takes his new role as leader. Stannis is not pleased with this plan considering he has no hope of convincing Jon to become Lord of Winterfell at this point.

Season 4 of Game of Thrones is set to premiere in spring 2014 on HBO, though a specific premiere date has not yet been scheduled by the network.
