Unconditional singer Katy Perry and her boyfriend John Mayer are hoping to have children soon, Contact Music reported.

The two have been dating off and on since the summer of 2012, shortly after Perry and her ex-husband Russell Brand got divorced.

A source claimed that the couple is now ready to start a family.

"Katy brought up the idea of having a baby a few weeks ago. He was really supportive and said he'd love her to be the mother of his child."

The source added that while their close friends are impartial to the couple moving so fast. Especially since the Your Body Is a Wonderland singer has also previously dated Hollywood celebrities like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica impson.

"Their inner circle say it won't be long until there's happy news...Katy's pals are concerned she's too headstrong and won't factor in John's relationship history. But Katy says he'll make a great dad and believes a baby would only strengthen their bond."

Perry has already been said to start taking extra measures to be safe during live performances.

While Perry and Mayer are open about their relationship now, Perry recently revealed they dated each other privately before going public, which brought about the inspiration for Legendary Lovers on her newest album Prism.

"I actually wrote it in an email one time, and after I wrote it I looked -- we had a long courtship before anything was [public], just writing letters to each other -- and seeing Legendary Lovers, it sounded so nice."
