The former Britain's Got Talent winner, Susan Boyle revealed that she was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, to the Observer newspaper in a piece that was published on Dec. 8.

Boyle has suggested that she already consulted a doctor about a year ago. The specialist had told her that she had the condition but also said that she had an above average IQ.

The singer had had learning difficulties growing up and was also bullied at school.

"I have always known that I have had an unfair label put upon me," Boyle said. "Now I have a clearer understanding of what's wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed about myself."

Apparently the singer was relieved about the diagnosis and letting people know about it as now they would better understand her sturggles and what she went through.

"I would say I have a relationship difficulties, communicative difficulties, which lead to a lot fo frustration," she said. "If people were a bit more patient, that would help."

She also went on to say that the disease was only a condition that she had to "work through" and "live with" but that it didn't "define" her in any way.

"I feel more relaxed about myself. People will have a much greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do," she added.

Boyle won Britain's Got Talent in 2009 and recently released her debut album, Coming Home for Christmas.

The 52-year-old singer also made her acting debut with the film, A Christmas Candle, which released in November.

The 52-year-old plays the wife of a church warden, played by James Cosmo in the film.

The film also stars Samantha Barks (Les Miserables), Lesley Manville, Hans Matheson, Sylvester McCoy, and John Hanna.
