Britney Spears 'Perfume' Video for ‘Britney Jean’ Album Single; Fans Petition After Director Joseph Kahn Calls It a 'Game Changer'
Britney Spears released her video for Perfume on Monday and according to director Joseph Kahn there was way more that fans should have seen.
"Wish they'd release the director's cut of #perfume. Britney's performance is unbelievable. A true artist in it. Game changer," he tweeted. "Official cut is a good video as you'll soon see. But it's a true loss not to see what she really did. It's incredible. Beyond other artists."
He added: "Maybe if your voice is loud enough they'll release it. But other than that, I just needed to tell the truth. Something amazing is waiting."
Kahn did admit, however, that many would probably enjoy the current version more and also added, "But to be VERY honest. Some people would prefer the official version. It's prettier. Simpler. I like it. But I love the DC so much more."
It's unclear what exactly Kahn loved about the director's cut, but photos previously caught Spears on the set of Perfume pointing a prop gun at a man in a car. That scene didn't make the official cut.
Nonetheless, Kahn's words encouraged Britney fans to start an online petition, via IPetitions.com, urging RCA to release the director's cut. The petition has garnered over 7,000 signatures to date and has a goal of 10,000.
"We believe that the possible controversy in the Director's cut will give the song the push it needs to aid its radio airplay and digital sales," the petition says.
In the current video, Spears spends time with the man she in love with, whom she fear has feelings for his ex-girlfriend. The blonde-haired star eventually spots her beau flirting with the other woman.
"U all are too sweet, thank you for all the love on the new video. I'm happy u all like it!" Spears tweeted.
