Playing stockbroker swindler Jordan Belfort, actor Leonardo DiCaprio shows off a lot of skin in Martin Scorsese's drama The Wolf of Wall Street.

One particular sex scene featured DiCaprio with a dominatrix and a candle, but the 39-year-old wants everyone to know its all him on the screen and not a body double.

"It was all me, pal," he said during a recent interview with Extra. "Look, when you do a character like this, you have to go all out. You can't pull any punches. You have to swing for the fences. Hopefully people enjoy it."

"All the flopping around, it was all me," The Great Gatsby star added.

DiCaprio stressed that it important for him to capture the true decadence of the crazed capitalist. When asked if he was worried about being so exposed on camera, the actor said he did what needed to be done to portray his character the right way.

"When you take on a character like this and you want to accurately reflect the nature of who these people are, you just gotta do it," he stated. "You can't think about yourself because it's not me. It's a depiction of somebody else."

The Wolf of Wall Street features many risqué scenes, including an orgy where many of the actors involved had to bare all for the film. Regardless of how much he was required to strip down, DiCaprio said the story of the wild and wicked Wall Street tycoon was one he was anxious to be a part of.

"This is the second project in my life that I kinda stuck with for over six years and had been obsessed with playing," said the Oscar-nominated actor. "One of them was Howard Hughes in The Aviator, and that was another almost eight-year process to actually make into a film. And this took about six years."

It was the nature of the main character that drew DiCaprio to the movie.

"As soon as I read this guy's account of his days on Wall Street and this hedonism -- the man that's portraying the darker nature of himself in his own biography -- I became obsessed with playing him because I felt he kinda represented all that is wrong with America today," he said. "His attitude was something that I felt needed to be put up on the screen."

The Los Angeles native, however, was quick to point out that he had little in common with his character.

"Please, don't compare me with this dude at all. Are you out of your mind?" laughed the actor.

For his efforts, DiCaprio received a 2014 Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Comedy or Musical. The film itself is up for Best Motion Picture in a Comedy or Musical.

The Wolf of Wall Street opens on Dec. 25, 2013.
