2013 was a strong year in music, with music critics agreeing on the qualities of several mainstream albums, in addition to a few indie records.

Critic aggregator Metacritic has assembled a compilation of the best albums of 2013, as dictated by some of the nation's top music critics. According to the critics, Kanye West's latest album Yeezus was the top album of 2013 by a large margin. 

Rockers Vampire Weekend made the no. 2 slot on the list with their album Modern Vampires of the City. Along with Yeezus, Modern Vampires of the City was the only album to get 10 or more no. 1 positions from critics.

Two rock favorites Daft Punk and Arcade Fire landed the no. 3 and 4 slot, respectively, for their latest albums Random Access Memories and Reflektor.

British rock group Arctic Monkeys' new album AM tied for the no. 5 slot with breakthrough artist Lorde's debut album Pure Heroine.

Up and coming rapper Chance the Rapper tied with rock groups Savages and My Bloody Valentine, sharing the no. 7 slot.

Finally, Disclosure rounded out the top 10 with their album Settle.
