Actor Josh Holloway recently commented on the rumors that he would be playing Aquaman in Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman.

Holloway spoke with IGN recently and addressed the Aquaman rumors directly.

"It hasn't been brought to my attention by my people. So maybe they're just floating it softly around, but that would be cool!" he admitted.

Holloway, who currently stars in the CBS drama Intelligence, was open to the idea of portraying Aquaman on the big screen, discussing his love for superhero movies as a main factor.

"Sure, I think I'm available at the moment as we just wrapped up [on Intelligence]. I'm an actor, I like different roles. Batman movies are awesome, Marvel movies are awesome," he said. "But we'll see. I'm on a series right now. I think they usually want to sign you up for several movies and I don't know if you can do that when you're committed to a series."

The actor, who is most commonly known for his role as Sawyer in the ABC island drama Lost, may be freed up from his Intelligence contract sooner rather than later. The new show has been underperforming for CBS despite debuting high, so a cancellation might be coming soon.

Rumors of an Aquaman appearance in Man of Steel 2 has been floating around for several months. Most recently, a forum member claiming to know a recently-fired member of the Man of Steel 2 art department posted a series of plot points for the film that included Aquaman. The character will not go by the name 'Aquaman' in the film, according to the commenter.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
