The Mentalist has commenced filming with Agent Lisbon's new love interest.

While many fans continue to hope that Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) will push their platonic friendship in a more romantic direction, the CBS drama has a five-episode story arc penned between Lisbon and FBI Agent Marcus Pike.

Described as a "charming man with integrity, a blue-collar cop with FBI smarts," Pike will be portrayed by Game of Thrones' Pedro Pascal according to TV Line. The character is set to debut in episode 16 in association with an art theft.

"We start shooting my next episode of #thementalist today, "Violets." There are paintings and good clothes in it," tweeted writer Jordan Harper on Tuesday, later commenting that it would not be quite as intense as his last script, "The Great Red Dragon."

Based on recent behind-the-scenes photos, the episode will involve plenty of guns and a postal truck.

Meanwhile, if Lisbon and Jane were to get together, it might not happen this season since a five-episode arc for Pike puts the series dangerously close to their season finale. Series creator Bruno Heller recently addressed the issue, stating that relationship outside of her friendship with Jane are important to Lisbon's character growth.

"In order for her to fulfill herself - even if she eventually fulfills herself with Jane, which she may or may not do - she has to find other relationships, other perspectives, other people who love her, just to feel fully who she is," Heller said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "It's very important for her to be able to step away from Jane and see herself for herself."

The Mentalist airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. Click the video below to see a scene between Jane and Lisbon.
