There is a possibility that the characters in Star Wars: Episode VII could be based on their Expanded Universe counterparts. It also appears that chances are higher that Mara Jade will be in the film.

According to Star Wars 7 News on Thursday, basic descriptions of the characters could be used.

"Right now they're looking at using the basic descriptions of EU characters with different names," a source said. "Luke's wife will follow the same template as Shira Brie/Mara Jade. Red hair, green eyes, attitude, etc."

"That's why [Disney CEO] Bob Iger said they would use the 17,000 character for inspiration for new characters. Shira Brie and Mara Jade are the templates for Luke's wife/love interest," the source continued. "Jaina will be the inspiration for the Solo daughter, Jacen for the Solo son and Ben for the Skywalker son. Most of the new characters in the new continuity are based on characters from the old continuity."

It was recently rumored that Mara Jade could make an appearance in the film although it has not been confirmed.

Mara Jade To Appear In Star Wars: Episode VII?

Much of the remaining news is being kept in secret, according to director J.J. Abrams.

"I'm working on the Star Wars script today and the people in my office have covered up all my windows wit black paper," Abrams told The Telegraph. "I guess they wanted to make sure no one could see what I was doing."
