Gary Oldman, who played Commissioner Gordon in the Dark Knight trilogy, recently addressed the possibility of playing him again for Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman.

Oldman spoke to DigitalSpy in a press junket for Robocop and denied the possibility of returning for Man of Steel 2.

"No, I won't be [returning]," he said, definitively. "It's a whole new thing."

The highly anticipated Man of Steel 2 will not be linked to Christopher Nolan's trilogy of films (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises) in any way. As previously announced, Ben Affleck is taking over the role of Batman from Christian Bale and Jeffrey Irons is taking on the role of Alfred the butler from Michael Caine.

As for Commissioner Gordon, there has been no official announcement that he will even be in Man of Steel 2. As the movie is technically a Superman movie, it is unlikely that many Gotham residents will be featured in the film.

Some of the cast of Man of Steel 2 is still in question despite filming coming up very soon. While a fair number of roles have been cast, there are still rumors that there will be even more significant characters from the D.C. comics in the film.
