Episode 6 of True Detective is titled Haunted Houses, and includes many big confrontations. HBO released a trailer for the episode Sunday night, revealing the toll of the case weighing down on both detectives, especially Hart.

"Something went real wrong with him," Det. Papania (Tory Kittles) tells Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) in what appears to be the present.

Cohle Quits Police Force After Fracturing Relationship With Hart?

"I knew Rust to be a good man so I can't imagine what I can offer," Maggie says in response.

The rest of the trailer details the possible incrimination of Cohle as Papania tells Hart that "he never left. He's been right here doing bad things a long time." While it's not clear that Papania is talking about Cohle, the trailer immediately cuts to him as he studies the various evidence from the murder investigation.

Hart tells Cohle that he is the only one who ever "took up" for him, to which Cohle snidely tells Hart that without him, Cohle, there is no Hart.

Most intriguingly, the trailer ends with a girl seeming to recognize Cohle and whispering, "The man with the scars - you made me watch."

Haunted Houses is set to air Sunday, Feb. 23 on HBO. The episode will begin the show's march to its conclusion as the season ends on March 9.

True Detective airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
