The newest international trailer for The Amazing Spiderman 2 appears to confirm speculation that has been ongoing for months about a major character's death during the film.

Green Goblin Gets Unmasked

Rumors have flown for some time that Peter Parker's lady love Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) would perish in the film ever since photos surfaced showing the actress wearing the same outfit the character wore when she was killed off in the original comic books.

The new trailer now appears to confirm the character's death through some tell-tale images on the screen, as well as a voice-over Peter does where he asks Gwen "What if something happens to you because of me?"

Official Villains Revealed?

In the comic books, Green Goblin kidnaps Gwen and uses her as bait to lure Spiderman to the George Washington Bridge. He hurls her over the edge, but Spiderman shoots a web strand at her legs and catches her. However, when he pulls her back up, he realizes her neck has broken, either from the sudden stop caused by the web, or by something Green Goblin did, and she is dead.

In the trailer, an eerily similar scene is shown where Gwen's body is falling through the air, and as Spiderman catches her, they both fall through a glass ceiling. As they fall he loses his grip on her again, and shoots a web down that manages to catch her wrist.

The trailer also gives the best look at Electro (Jamie Foxx), one of the three villains Spider-Man will face-off against in this chapter.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters May 2.
