It looks like there might be some more slightly dangerous traits to Lady Mary when the fifth season of Downton Abbey returns.

Downton Abbey To End After Fifth Season?

Michelle Dockery talked about her character with Manhattan magazine where she revealed some hints about what could possibly take place with her character when the British-American drama returns.

"I love that she's so complex," Dockery said. "She's very modern in that sense because she's more than a strong woman: She's witty, vicious even. She doesn't suffer fools, yet she's sensitive. She's a mixed bag, and I enjoy playing those sides of her. I also love [that] she doesn't apologize for who she is or what she's done. She might confess a doubt to Anna [her trusted lady's maid] in private, but in public? Never."

Lady Mary To Be Involved In New Romance?

This could create some more speculation that Lady Mary might have some new secrets that she'll tell Anna.

Richard E. Grant is also set to make an appearance on the series as an art historian named Simon Bricker. He talked about how he got on the show in an interview with Vulture where he revealed how his character relates to the character he played in Gosford Park.

"A month ago, I got an email asking if I'd do four episodes, and instead of playing someone downstairs, like I did in Gosford four years ago, would I play someone upstairs? I said yes fast," Grant said. "But it's possible someone else turned it down or dropped dead. Who knows?"

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in January 2015 on PBS.
