Manny Pacquiao "Open 24 Hours" To Fight Floyd Mayweather

"I will be fighting at the best place on Earth on May 3rd... the MGM Grand," Mayweather, a Las Vegas resident, tweeted on Wednesday.

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. attempted to host the match, but the MGM Grand was granted the fight, especially because of Mayweather's love for the city.

Floyd Mayweather's Father Thinks Manny Pacquiao Should Fight His Son

"Floyd has a very close relationship with Las Vegas and I do as well," Golden Boy chief executive Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com. "We have done all the big pay-per-views out of the MGM Grand Garden Arena. I believe that if you built the perfect venue for pay-per-view, it would be the MGM Grand. Everything is there for us, the arena, the media is all the there, the fans are all there. It becomes fight central. There is a festive atmosphere. That is all important to Floyd."

This will be the ninth consecutive time that Mayweather will fight at the arena and will also be his 11th boxing match in a row in Las Vegas.

The undefeated boxer, 37, also recently explained why he chose to fight Maidana over Amir Khan.

"He's been very, very impressive lately, whereas Amir Khan does have a win over Marcos Maidana, but he was fatigued in the fight and he was in a life and death fight," he told FightHype.com.

"It's not bragging or boasting. I am boxing... I play the waiting game. I earn my stripes to where people have to wait on me. You have to wait to see if your lottery ticket will be picked."
