Despite surviving his gunshot wounds, A.J.'s (Sean Kanan) life is still hanging in the balance on ABC's General Hospital.

A.J.'s Shooter Revealed?

After briefly waking up before falling unconscious again due to a brain aneurysm, A.J.'s situation is looking even more grim, and in a preview clip for the Friday, March 14 episode, his son will learn that there's a chance he won't make it through.

"There's a great risk that A.J. could die," Patrick (Jason Thompson) said to Michael (Chad Duell) in the clip.

More Suspects in A.J.'s Shooting?

However, if A.J. doesn't make it through, it may not be because of his current medical state, as a mysterious visitor enters his room at night and starts cutting off the oxygen supply the machines are providing him with.

"It really is the only option," a woman's voice said as the tube was squeezed.

Considering that Ava (Maura West) was present for his shooting and A.J. was confronting her at the time because figured out that she was the one who had killed Connie Falconeri, she could be the one who sneaks into his room and tries to kill him. She can't let A.J. wake up because he already previously exonerated her brother Julian (Michael DeVry), who had been arrested for the shooting. If he were to wake up again, he could not only send Sonny (Maurice Bernard) to prison for shooting him, but Ava as well.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 2 p.m. on ABC.
