With a new number-one hit, a stud boyfriend and a baby at home, Shakira definitely seems to have it all and she doesn't plan on letting go of it anytime soon.
During an interview with Today, the Whenever, Wherever singer confessed that happiness in her personal life didn't come easy and she wants to do what it takes to keep it around.
"Now I have to think about other things," she said. "I have to think about other priorities. My personal life, my family-that's all I care about. It took me a long time to find happiness...many years. I don't want it to escape my hands so easily."
Shakira, whose newest song Empire hit number 1 in 62 countries the day it was released, also opened up about it being the right time to release new music after a four-year hiatus.
"So many things have happened. I met my son's father, I did The Voice, I finished a tour, I had a baby. I think has been the most eventful years of my life. I'm going through a very good period. A very good moment."
Shakira and her boyfriend, Gerard Pique, met on the set of her 2010 video for Waka Waka. Their child, Milan, was born in January 2013. The singer, who hails from South America, is the first artist from the area to go number 1 here in the states. Aside from her singing career, she sees her gig on The Voice as the fun part.
"There's a serious aspect in doing the The Voice which is mentoring young talent and seeing it flourish, but it's also playtime. I'm hanging out all day long with Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. They're like 13-year-old boys really."
As for her new sultry hit with Rihanna, Can't Remember To Forget You, Shakira revealed she enjoyed working with her on a professional and personal level.
"She listened to the song and she she said she wanted to be on this project and I was so happy. She's not only the amazing artist that we know she is, she's a very sweet person."
