The FX television premiere of the Noah Hawley created series Fargo is still one week away. However, it is already receiving rave reviews.

'Fargo' TV Show Expected To Pale In Comparison To The Movie?

Though the 10-episode series shares the same name as its cinematic predecessor, the FX network's Fargo is said to have a feel all of its own. Thursday, Variety described it, "as its own property, possessing the tone and style of the rightly admired Coen brothers classic, but pursuing a new tawdry true-crime tale," mentioning that it has a "stellar cast and hypnotic tone," as well.

The upcoming show is an anthology crime dark comedy-drama series about a drifter named Lorne Malvo who arrives in small-town Minnesota and influences the population with his wicked ways. The life of insurance salesman Lester Nygaard is radically changed after becoming involved with and manipulated by Malvo. Mr. Woodcock actor, Billy Bob Thornton is slated to play the role of Malvo, while The Hobbit's Martin Freeman will portray the role of Nygaard.
