One of the main actors on Downton Abbey is reportedly going to be leaving the series at the end of Season 5.

Season 5 Will Take On A New Style?

On Thursday, Daily Mail reported that Lily James who plays Lady Rose will not be returning to the series after the fifth season ends due to her commitment to the live-action film version of Cinderella where she will play the leading role. Unfortunately, James would have to start working on this movie around the same time a sixth season would start filming.

The site reported that James' character won't be killed off, and won't even be written out of the show. Apparently, the writers want her to come back for Christmas episodes so she may have a few brief appearances depending how long the series lasts.

Thomas Will Have Something To Smile About?

"Lily's young and adds balance to the family upstairs," a production executive said.

"It's clear Lily enjoys working on Downton, too," the executive continued. "Each time I saw her on the Cinderella set she told me she was eager to see her Downton 'family.'"

Cinderella is expected to hit theaters in March 2015, and James has reportedly been requested to help promote the movie around the world.

"It's a very important film for Disney, and you can understand them wanting their leading lady to be available to promote it," a rep for the actress said.

Cinderella also stars Richard Madden, Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett.

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in January 2015 on PBS.
