As 30 new chefs compete for a chance to win the newest MasterChef title by competing in a series of new challenges, they may also be forced to judge and witness Chef Gordon Ramsay exhibiting a split personality.

Masterchef Season 5 Cast Announced

In a new about.com article, Ramsay's ability to shift how he treats the competing chefs in both this and his other show Hell's Kitchen, is called into question. While Hell's Kitchen features a Ramsay who is angry and almost appears psychotic, MasterChef has traditionally shown a softer and less frantic side to the chef, one which seems more sympathetic to the chefs. The two different personalities make it appear like Ramsay could change things up in the new season of MasterChef, showcasing his meaner and more fierce side.

Fans of the series, however, may not need to worry about Ramsay flipping things around in the new season of MasterChef. Though his personality on the two shows does differ, both ways Ramsay acts are geared towards the same goal: helping mold the next group of world-renowned chefs.

Masterchef Season 5 To Feature A Star Wars Themed Challenge?

In the premiere episode, slated for May 26, the 30 selected competitors will head to Los Angeles to present their signature dishes to judges Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich, who will then select certain ones to receive a coveted white apron and move onto the next round.

After the initial round, the contestants will undergo a series of tasks, including working in teams to prepare a hearty meal for more than 500 hungry servicemen and women on an army base, creating a three-course meal for a summer wedding, visiting a local diner to prepare American classics, cooking a romantic dinner for 14 couples, serving game-day favorites for hungry football fans and taking command of a legendary Hollywood restaurant.

Early artwork to promote the season also hinted at a possible Star Wars-themed challenge.

Each week, one competitor will be eliminated, until the final episode which will see one chef crowned with the title of MasterChef, and will win a cookbook deal and a $250,000 grand prize.

MasterChef season 5 premieres Monday, May 26 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
