Booth Retiring From FBI After Dramatic Incidents In Bones Finale?

The final episode of Bones' ninth season will feature the series going into a new direction. Though the specifics of what goes down in the finale have not been explicitly revealed yet, there have been many teasers that suggest nothing will be the same anymore for Booth and Brennan, especially Booth.

"There's a huge thing that happens at the end... that we're not going to tell you about, but it changes everything - not only between Booth and Brennan, but also with Booth's job, possibly Brennan's job - I mean, everything," Deschanel teased to TVLine recently.

Boreanaz added that there will be a lot of "destructive forces" that could affect Booth and Brennan, "and we find out that there's more to it than what meets the eye.... It puts [Booth and Brennan] in a different place, for sure."

Fox has released a sneak peek clip of the episode, featuring Brennan teaching Booth some German in order to prepare him for his new job at the Berlin Field Office. The couple has some cute banter before things take a turn for the worse. Booth receives a mysterious phone call related to the McNamaras, a.k.a. the Ghost Killer case. As Booth proceeds to the office, things will likely be set in motion for one of the most significant finales in Bones history.

Bones Season 9 airs Monday, May 19 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
