Michael Jace, April Jace: ‘The Shield’ Actor Arrested In Wife’s Shooting Death After ‘Domestic Violence’ Incident Spiraled Out Of Control? [VIDEO]
Television star Michael Jace is behind bars today after being arrested early this this morning on suspicion of murder charges after his wife was found fatally shot in their Los Angeles home.
The 51-year-old star of FX's The Shield was detained by authorities shortly after gunfire erupted in the couple's Hyde Park home around 8:30 p.m. Monday night.
April Jace was killed during the exchange, though it is currently unclear how many wounds she received and where the fatal shots occurred.
The shooting occurred after what authorities believed to be a domestic violence incident that escalated quickly.
"It looks to have started as a domestic-violence incident," Officer Sara Faden told The Los Angeles Times.
Details about the shooting involving Jace were leaked by TMZ, who reported that he called police himself and confessed to the crime, telling authorities "I shot my wife."
Jace was previously married to Jennifer Bitterman before divorcing in 2002, and had been married to April for nine years. The couple has two children together, and it has been reported that the kids, both under the age of 10, witnessed their father shoot their mother.
The New Jersey-born actor was booked on suspicion of homicide and ordered held in lieu of $1 million.
Jace, who had a small role in the Oscar-Winning film Forrest Gump, is best known for his role on The Shield, where he plays a Christian LAPD officer who is confused about his sexuality.
