Victoria Grayson is getting her comeuppance as Revenge heads into its fourth season.

No Premiere Flash-Forward & Conrad Still Alive? Sunil Nayar Hints At A New Direction For 'Revenge'

The Queen of the Hamptons (Madeleine Stowe) might have discovered Emily/Amanda's (Emily VanCamp) true identity, but no one will be ready to believe her for a long time, not considering the tale Emily spun regarding Victoria's obsession with Amanda Clarke. With Victoria under lock and key in a psychiatric hospital, how can the master manipulator make a comeback in season 4?

"I think there's been that sense of, 'Oh my God, what happens when Victoria finds out who Emily is?'" explained executive producer Sunil Nayar, according to Entertainment Weekly. "And we wanted to answer that question but also reset the balance so it wasn't like Victoria can just come charging back to the Hamptons and unmask Emily completely in front of everybody."

Placing Victoria's mental state in doubt is a perfect delay for Emily, but Nayar states that the ruse won't last forever.

"It's so they can both have victories and losses in the sense of this war that they are waging against each other. Each battle has kind of like psychological deliciousness," Nayar told Entertainment Weekly. "We wanted Emily to win in the moment because she knows Victoria will eventually get out of this asylum, and who knows what she'll come back to be and armed with. It gave us a lot more psychological ammunition for both Emily and Victoria going forward."

Find out how the two women will wield this new form of ammunition when Revenge returns to ABC this fall.
