While fans wait for the hit ABC show's fifth season premiere, Rookie Blue show runners are adding a twist.

Sam & Andy 'Change' For Relationship to Work?

For the first time viewers will get a look into Sam's personal life and family when his sister suddenly arrives. Of course this shakes things up when it comes to his complicated relationship with Andy.

Ben Bass, who portrays Sam said, "Fans will be really curious to find out more about his family members when his sister comes into his life."

Andy Ruins Relationship With Nick For Sam?

In one clip his sister told Andy, "He'll just keep hurting you. Be careful."

It's not clear why she popped up in Sam's life, but he and his sister, possibly their whole family, obviously have a messy history. She even confronted him and told him to stop trying to be one, big happy family. She added that they were too "messed up" for that.

His sister will definitely find out that Sam has surely changed. Especially after he was shot. Andy revealed to Sam how much he had changed when he returned to police station and made a comment about how different it was.

"Maybe it's you," Andy replied.

Bass said of their relationship, "Andy is a once in a many lifetime connection. In order for these two characters to work together, they're going to have to change."

Sam isn't the only character going through major changes.

Writer and Co-Executive Producer Sherry White said, "We can't write those guys the same way we did the first season. Even if we wanted to. They've learned to much.

Rookie Blue's fifth season premiere airs on ABC June 19 at 9/8c.
